24 years and counting
Saturday 5th Feb will be mine and hubby’s 24th Wedding Anniversary, I can’t believe it’s been that long. We’ll have been together 26 year all together and if you think about it we’ve known each other longer than we haven’t known each other if you know what I mean
The 24th Wedding Anniversary doesn’t have any traditional materials or symbols but apparently the contemporary or modern 24th anniversary gift has a theme of Musical Instruments and is associated with the gemstone Tanzanite
New Shoes at last…
I’ve finally found a pair of shoes that actually fit me, after sending 2 other pairs of a different style back I came across a pair from Priceless shoes for £5 in the sale. You can’t go wrong for a fiver so I ordered them and they arrived a few days ago, they not only look nice they feel nice too. Boots and trainers are never a problem as they always fit but when it comes to shoes I have a hell of a job finding a pair suitable, usually a 4′s too big and a 3′s too small. Just need the weather to warm up and the frost to disappear so I can wear them
In other news son bid on a graphics card on eBay before Christmas and was over the moon when he won, the seller said he’d posted it out but he never received it. Turned out the seller was an idiot trying to con him out of his money. He said he’d posted a £100 item in 2nd class post without a tracking number because that’s what my son requested, my son did no such thing and has sensibly kept every email sent and received. Anyway in the end he was reported to eBay, they found in my sons favour and he was received a full refund this morning.
On another note it’ll be mine and hubbys 24th wedding anniversary next month
Christmas past
Well thats another Christmas been and gone, all that fretting about whether we’ve bought for everyone and have we got enough food in then it’s all over in a day.
New year came quietly but the year didn’t get of to a good start. Got a phone call from my mam yesterday morning to tell me my cousin had died that morning, she’d been ill for a while and was having treatment but sadly it just wasnt to be. She leaves behind a son and a daughter who are barely in their 20′s and have now lost both of their parents.
There’s nothing more that I want to say so it’s gonna be a short little blog update.
R.I.P dear cousin, you will be missed.
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, Ev’rywhere you go. Dunno about where you are but we’ve had loads of snow, I measured 7 inches outside our back door but it was even deeper in places. This was a week ago and it’s still not thawing, yesterday and the day before temperatures fell it -9 at 9.30 in the morning and -11 during the night.
I hope it’s not going to be too cold on Thursday, the nursery where I work are holding a Carol Service in the garden. The whole of the nursery will be singing Christmas Carols for the parents who if last years anything to go by will be joining in. They were well away with it singing their hearts out with the kids. I hope we’re having hot chocolate like last year yummm.
iOS 4.2 Software Update
Apples iOS 4.2 Software Update came out yesterday and I never even knew till this morning when I read someone had instaled it.
Update includes:
- Multitasking and folders for the iPad
- AirPrint makes it simple to print email, photos, web pages and documents right from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. A few taps is all it takes to go from viewing it on-screen to holding a printed copy. There’s no software to download, no drivers to install and no cables to connect.
- AirPlay lets you stream digital media wirelessly from your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to your Apple TV and AirPlay-enabled speakers. So you can watch films and photos on your widescreen TV and play music through the best speakers in the house.
- Find My iPhone, iPad or iPod touch — the MobileMe feature that helps you locate your missing device and protect its data — is now free on any iPhone 4, iPad or fourth-generation iPod touch running iOS 4.2 and much more.
Done my iPod Touch and it only took about 10 minutes or so
So did we watch the X Factor last night?
That was the worst episode I have ever had the misfortune of seeing or should I saw hearing, my goodness the singing was atrocious. I dunno what the judges were hearing but it certainly wasn’t the same as the rest of us.
I think everyone was waiting for Katie and Cher to see if they fluffed it again and forgot the words, they didn’t crumble but my goodness they were bad, especially Cher Lloyd. Did you notice the hilarious gurning as she sang? I can’t understand why she was given so much praise. Dannii said she sounded “fantastic” and Simon even went so far as to call her appearence “genious”. I’ve got a feeling she’s gonna go the distance and we’ll be subjected to her horrendous caterwaulin and face pulling week after week. Simon even had nothing but good things to say about Katie Waissel who was also way out of tune and looked ridiculous. Her performance had her wearing a silly costume began with her pretending to play a piano. Even the groups which were put together by the judges all sang badly.
Paije Richardson, Mary Byrne, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, Treyc Cohen were all fantastic and should definitely be there but the other’s? No way.
I hate flying & the saga of the flight home
I used to love flying, at one time it was exciting and one of the best bits of the holiday but these days I absolutely dread it. I’m not scared of flying or anything like that I just find the seats ridiculous uncomfortable, the shape breaks my neck. Every time we fly I end up with a really bad sickly migraine. God knows how very large tall people cope being squashed in to tiny seats with virtually no leg room. The journey there was a nightmare but wait till you hear about the journey home. Lets start at the beginning……
We got on our coach transfer back to Alicante on time then went on to the next pickup, this is where it all started to go wrong. We got there and waited and waited, apparently the 4 people we were there to collect were still in their room. 15 minutes later a woman decided to make an appearance and discovered she couldn’t find the flight tickets. 5 minutes later they turned up as did the rest of the family. Needless to say those of us who made the effort to be on time were not amused.
We then went on to the next pickup and again we were made to wait as there was no one there, 5 or so minutes later the rep came back and announced that it appears the guests had decided to make their own way to the airport and not bothered to inform anyone. Eventually we were on our way but just as we approached the airport we were told that French air traffic controllers were on strike and the flight was delayed. We all groaned loudly.
After a delay of about an hour and 40 minutes we finally got on the plane only to be told that French air traffic controller were messing about with flights and restricting who they let in to their air space and when. I think we ended up sitting on the tarmac for another 40 minutes as they kept shuffling us back 10 minutes. They finally let us go and we thought that this was it, we’d finally be home in 2 1/2 hours WRONG.
We were only 30 minutes from Newcastle airport when the captain announced that there was an ill passenger onboard and we were diverting to Manchester where an ambulance would be waiting, as you can imagine that didn’t go down too well. She was eventually taken off the plane. A little while later the captain made another announcement this time to say that we needed to refuel, yet again we ended up stuck sat on the plane for 50 minutes this time in Manchester.
During this time not once were we offered anything to eat or drink, even the very young kids. Numerous times people made noise over this asking for at least a glass of water each yet nothing was offered. They never even offered to bring round the trolley for people to buy stuff……….All in all a two and a half hour journey ended up taking nearly 4
We’ll still do it all again next year though
A week in the Spanish sun
Just had a lovely weeks holiday in Spain and it was gorgeous, the temperature was around 30° all week and at one point it was still 35° at 5.50pm. Stayed at the hotel Ambassador Playa again and the food was deliciously yummy, after eating 3 large square meals a day I’ve put on 4lb which has gone straight to me belly and hips EEK.
You can’t go on holiday without buying souvenirs and guess what I came back with? Yep a pair of boots hehe. They’re dark brown suede and cost me just under 10 euros
Last year and the year before that it was a bag but this year I upgraded to boots, never saw a bag that caught my eye or I’d have probably bought that too.
They were filming an Xmas special of the ITV comedy series Benidorm whilst we were there but we weren’t lucky enough to spot any filming going on, we did see fliers saying they were looking to cast “British looking tourists” but neither of us can act so we passed up the opportunity to audition
A few times hubby spotted a fella strolling along the promenade who looked and sounded exactly like Steve Pemberton who plays Mick Garvey but each time I missed him and only caught the back of him. Neither time I had a camera or video camera with me. I can’t wait to see it on telly, it’s absolutely hilarious.
In every hotel in every resort there’s at least one family who are the Garvey’s to a tee. Every single morning they’d be a queue to the pool area of sad people waiting for the doors opening at 8.30. They’d charge out with their towels, plonk them on a sunbed where they’d stay ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Our room overlooked the pool area where we saw the same people on the same sunbeds the whole week of our stay. BORING.
Coming soon………the nightmare journey home.
